How do you write the additional-information essay?

Insight

Use this for context the rest of the application cannot show: a school change, a family responsibility, a grade that needs one sentence, a gap. Keep it factual and short. A second personal statement in this box makes the first one look unfinished.

When to use this. The additional-information section, or any box that asks whether there is anything else the reader should know.

When not to. You have no context that would change how a reader understands the file. Leaving it blank is appropriate.

Guidance

  1. Write the fact in one or two sentences: what happened, when, and what it affected.
  2. Add only the consequence for schoolwork or activities.
  3. Leave out the essay voice. This is a note, not a scene, unless they ask for a story.
  4. If nothing in the file is misleading without the note, do not fill the box.

Optional. Copy this into ChatGPT or a similar tool if you want a first draft. Replace the [PASTE] sections with your own material. The work stays in that tool; we do not save it here.

Prompt to copy

Rules: Do not invent employers, job titles, dates, metrics, team sizes, or outcomes. If something is missing, ask me or write [unknown]. Keep hedges such as "approximately" and "more than" exactly as I stated them. Never turn a qualitative result into a number.

Reshape one real incident into an essay draft. Use only the notes I paste. If a fact is missing, write [unknown] or ask me. Do not add a school, activity, metric, or outcome I did not state. One scene. First person. Keep my part visible.

This is additional information, not a personal statement. Write a short factual note from my details. If the details do not change how a reader would understand the application, say that I should leave the box blank.
