How do you make a STAR answer memorable?

After Result, add what you learned, what you changed next time, and evidence that change helped. That is STAR+LAI (Lesson, Application, Impact). Interviewers remember stories that teach, not lists of tasks. Spoken length for a behavioral answer is usually 2–3 minutes.

  2. Lesson: a belief or method that changed — not a platitude.
  3. Application: what you did differently later.
  4. Impact: evidence the new approach worked, if you have it.
  5. Speak it. Cut until it is 2–3 minutes.
